When I read the description I knew this game was going to be good, but I wasn't prepared for the absolute masterpiece you've created.
Actually leaving this comment a little after playing because I was so blown away by this incredible story that I didn't really know how put my feelings into words (honestly I still don't think I can get everything out here, there's so much I love). The contrast between the incredibly bleak setting and the suprisingly wholesome relationship between Buki and The Flesh (both incredibly written characters that I now utterly adore) somehow blended perfectly together. I was enthralled right away, all the little details in the art-style, the UI and the sprites really helped bring it all the life. And it was interesting seeing how many hints were dropped to bigger reveals early on, sometimes in a way that I didn't even realise was a hint. A big one for me that had my jaw on the floor was Buki's design. When I first saw the screenshots and started playing the game I didn't question why her design would be so exaggeratedly feminine; I just figured "Oh the artist is using a stylised design, that looks cool" and didn't think more about it. But then the Flesh started making comments about it... and then we started learning more about the weapons director... god that realisation hit me so hard, I love it when a character design actually ties into their story and it made me feel even more connected to Buki. ALSO THAT ENDING! That absolutely destroyed me, yet it oddly made sense considering how the setting had been built up throughout.
Utterly amazing, I am definitely going to be replaying this more than once because this is one of the best stories I have ever read.
played this last night in a voice call and i was cheering and clapping and howling going 'aww' like every two seconds being an absolute nuisance but i couldn't help it because i became so obsessed with the flesh and the robot's relationship. i couldn't help but be heartbroken for both of them, so their bond was ultimately very fun to follow. obviously, i was rooting for them to murk everyone in the facility by the end and escape, but the canon ending really does paint a picture of the bleak world of the A.E. I left very satisfied with my experience. Even the weapons director, who was very disgusting, had love in his heart in his own awful way. very toxic, very great work!
From all the submissions I've played so far, this is probably my favorite one.
Anomalous is full of hype moments and aura. I love the sceen transitions and all the animations and all the chemicals that get namedropped. This has so much love and detail put into all of its crevices that elevate it into a thoroughly polished visual novel.
Visually speaking, this is absolutely delightful! The art style and general art direction are really appealing to me, it's all really pleasant and unique. It kinda reminds me of the well-practiced-but-doing-its-own-thing of styles I'd have seen on FurAffinity in 2016, and I mean this in the best way possible. The artwork is fucking sick. And you even added small details such as playing with the sprite coordinates to properly convey the height differences! That added so much charm to these goobers. As did all the shit you did with the text boxes. So many custom fonts and the furigana?? Ah,, my designer heart feels cozy here :3
And god... where to even start with regards to the story?! The solidarity between the Flesh and Buki so sweet. The way they tease each other ever closer and share in their plight. Also, the sex is so good. Fucking mindblowing & hot & awesome & queer. They're so awesome. I wanna see them murderfuck and chat and be horrible together so bad.
The protocols are so fun, Lambda especially. The Flesh's care while inside Buki and how her demeanor shifted was so so important and sweet.
The ending hit me like a fucking truck. Tragic toxic yuri that turns out to be super doomed to fuck??? Ow my feels
I genuinely have nothing but praise and adoration for Anomalous. The story, the characters, the audiovisual presentation; It all coalesces into a beautiful and surprisingly heartwrenching story about emotional vulnerability, intracommunal solidarity, and bodily autonomy.
I'm so glad you loved all the little details, I loved making all of the animations and it was really fun to imagine the way a robot would sense and conceptualize the world around them through their inhuman senses.
I love all the art in it too aaaaaaaa Temteno and Luci Lemonseed, the artists on the project, did so, so, so much good work on it, it looks so good thanks to them! I didn't actually use any custom fonts at all, hehe, the bit at the end is a pretty popular font for sitelen pona, a writing system for toki pona, a language I speak and had her speaking. I'm glad you appreciated it so much though!! I had a lot of fun designing the UI and visual language of the game, hehe.

The hardest part of it is that your point of view both has never felt pleasure before and was never meant to, she has to learn what it is and explain it through her artificial body. It was really fun though, hehe. I also wanna see more of them together, I've got plans for a much larger visual novel about them, the Choir, the Manager, and a new character not in this one that I was working on long before this, but I really really wanted to make something with the characters already and the larger project is a little far out right now, hehe.
And yeah, the struggle to even conceptualize pleasure and sex came across well I think. You know what they say that sex horror and action writing are all basically the same, and at points it really was just like horror writing in that scene, which was so eerie and cool
i was locked in by the first 10 seconds just seeing the boot up animation. the rest of my time spent reading was a dream. this is so many things i love wrapped together so nicely like oh my goddddd this was so good. you all made something really incredible here. I WANT TO PROTECT THEM !!
